At Adelaide Eye Care, we combine cutting-edge technology with compassionate care to provide effective solutions for various eye conditions. Our commitment to your visual health extends to treating conditions like Dry Eye and Keratoconus. Explore how we can help you below:
‘Dry Eye’ occurs when the eye does not produce tears properly or when the tears are not of the correct consistency and evaporate too quickly. We treat people with all levels of severity of dry eye and blepharitis. After a thorough examination of your eyes, our caring optometrists will tailor a treatment plan to suit your specific level of dry eye. Common treatments are aimed at improving the functioning of the oil-producing Meibomian glands.
If you suspect you are suffering from dry eye, do not hesitate to visit us to get relief from irritable eyes and blurry vision in no time.
Adelaide Eye Care has decades of experience in helping people with keratoconus, corneal grafts and other conditions that distort the optics of the cornea. From prescribing and supplying spectacles for your unique needs, to advising on surgical improvements available, to fitting all types of contact lenses, we have you covered.
Keratoconus is a progressive eye condition in which the cornea, the clear outer layer of the eye, becomes thin and weak, leading to a conical shape instead of a round shape. This can cause visual distortions and lead to reduced vision and other eye-related problems.
Adelaide Eye Care’s approach treats you as a person, not just a pair of eyes, and works with you to improve your quality of vision and quality of life by correcting you with the best options.
We were established by Assoc Prof Anthony Phillips in 1982, who has edited one of the standard Contact Lens textbooks for optometrists since the late 1960s, and René Malingré and his team of clever optometrists has been looking after hundreds of patients with keratoconus and corneal grafts since 2003.
We were the first practice to use corneal topography in South Australia to measure the shape of a cornea to fit contact lenses, were one of the first to fit modern scleral lenses for keratoconus back in 2005, and are very experienced in fitting rigid gas permeable contact lenses, hybrid lenses, scleral lenses, piggyback lenses and semi scleral lenses for complex eyes.
We are a teaching clinic for contact lenses, as a student placement for Contact Lens Clinics for the Optometry degree at Flinders University.
We are a tertiary referral centre for medical use of contact lenses, receiving referrals from fellow optometrists and ophthalmologists to help with the care of their patients.
We would love to help you.
